Keenan Zellars was born in Newark, NJ, and currently resides in North Carolina. Keenan is an inspired artist, songwriter, singer, and producer. He's motivated by the art of making truth-based speaking, easy-to-listen-to, and easy-to-understand music. His many years of performing, writing, recording, and producing have shaped his versatility and given him the ability to adapt or be adapted to in many different functions or activities in the music industry. In his youth, he developed the ability to surround himself with other talented singers and musicians while growing up in the streets of Newark, NJ.
With varied experience, some accounts were community block parties and live entertainment in various parks, especially Weequahic Park. The annual Weequahic Park Festival and the county-wide Essex County Summer Music Concert Series were a major influence on his early beginnings on the track to becoming who he is today. The early days were when he enrolled in a music performing arts school, learned the basic music theory and composition, and played in various groups and bands along the way.
While growing up in Newark, NJ, a sudden turn of events had occurred in his life as a young, tender-hearted boy of six years and seven months old. The patriarch of the family, his father, passed away, leaving his mother, Catherine, with five children to raise. The matriarch, being a strong woman from the South, worked very hard to raise her family without public assistance. Through the years, Keenan overcame many trials of reality, realizing life is short and precious.
